Building a large following on Twitter is easy. Attracting targeted followers, who are actually interested in what you have you have to say, is not so easy. Anyone can mass-follow thousands of random people and expect a fair few to follow back - many users use a ‘followers' total as a kind of status symbol and will happily return the favor, just to keep you on their list of followers.
